About Waypoint
What Waypoint is
Waypoint is an independent travel planning site. We write practical guides for the parts of a trip that are easy to get wrong: getting from the airport to your hotel, staying connected abroad, renting a car, and booking tours without overpaying.
What we cover
Most of our guides focus on a few destinations we cover in depth:
- Cancún and the Riviera Maya: airport transfers, buses, the Tren Maya, and which airport to fly into
- Tokyo: Haneda vs Narita, getting into the city, and eSIMs for Japan
- Istanbul: both airports, getting to Sultanahmet, and avoiding taxi problems
- Bali: airport transfers, getting around, and renting a car or scooter

How we write our guides
Each guide compares the realistic options side by side (cost, travel time, and hassle) and says which one fits which kind of traveler. We draw on official transport operators, airport information, and provider websites. Prices and schedules change, so we date every guide and update the most-read ones regularly. Always confirm the final price on the provider's site before you book.
How the site is funded
Some links on Waypoint are affiliate links. If you book through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes which option we recommend: if the bus is the better choice for you, we'll say so. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
